Asher Roth’s “I Love College” Video Puts Yardley on the Map

When into it my intuitive is awesome, wow / Super duper how’d he do it, he’s a foster child?
Hardly, raised in Yardley, / This rap thing’s a phase, it’s mainly a hobby…
So, it’s looking increasingly more and more likely that this Yardley, PA native is actually gonna hit it big. Aside from already achieving the number 3 spot on the Wikipedia page for Morrisville, PA’s famous people (ahead of both Kevin Enyity, who doesn’t even have a Wikipedia page at the other end of his link, and Thomas Story Kirkbride), his new album Asleep in the Bread Aisle (yeah, that’s really the title) is set to drop on April 21st, and the video for “I Love College,” which debuted today, isn’t half bad. And if you haven’t heard the song yet, it’s incredibly catchy, with a sample from Weezer’s “Say it ‘Aint So,” despite its failure to honestly do Asher’s considerable talents justice. Aside from being heralded by Blogbdon, he’s already been named one of MTV’s MC’s to Watch in 2009, among other accolades. Download his mixtape at his blog, or just watch the damn video already:
Editor’s note: Yardley, PA is my hometown, and, despite what Asher mentions in a few of the songs on his mixtape, it’s not exactly the first place you’d expect a mainstream, popular rapper to call his home. So this is exciting.
