Having defeated the defending-champion Boston Red Sox, the Tampa Bay Rays have advanced to the World Series themselves, where they will face our rested, hungry and NL-champion Philadelphia Phillies. Despite their explosiveness, the Rays are the matchup that I (and many local sports analysts) believed favored the Phils the most. We will be the underdogs, we will be the less-talked about team and we will be up against an amazing team and one of the most improbable, incredible sports stories in recent memory in the Rays. But we deserve it more, and sure as hell want it more, so here’s to ignoring the “momentum” theories and everyone who is going to pick against us, and let’s show the world who the real “team of destiny” is.
